OMG
Okay, i have lost all motivation to continue this story as it is. my problem is that I've been working on this story for over two years now, and it just isn't fun anymore. I still adore these kids, but this story's old. Should I...
Forget this story completely and move on to another project.
OR
Rework it, retell the story in a more interesting way for me.
OR
Add a fantasy element, using the same characters but tell an entirely different story (no vampires, that's overdone)
Opinions?

do anything you need to the story, or the characters, but continue doing the comic. It would suck to not see your art on here when you update.

I think you should rework it in a way you like it. These characters are likeable and realistic, I don't think you should ditch them. :)

I don't know how well these characters would do in a fantasy element, maybe because I am so used to seeing them as everyday kids, but I guess if this is no longer fun for you, you've got to do what feels right for you. If you hate the story as is, it will show in the future work, and so you shoudn't spend so much time on something you don't want to do (unless you are getting paid oodles, which you aren't). So yeah, rewrite it in a way that is good for you. The only thing is, if you rewrite it this new way, will you not like it again in another two years?

From a non~biased vantage point: The story could use a bit more random and/or silly scenes mixed in there to keep the flow easy and fun for you and your readers.
